Our Shield and Reward

"Fear not, Abram, I am your shield and your exceeding great reward."
(Genesis 15:1)

These are the words God the Father spoke to Abram in a vision. Looking back into Abram's life before this Word of God came to him, we can see that Abram obeyed God's calling and started his jouney towards the Promised Land. He went to Egypt as there was famine, and later journeyed towards the Land. Here, Abram and his brother's son, Lot, with all that they had were innumerable that the land was not able to bear them. Because of a strife between the two of them, Lot took all his possessions and left Abram. Later, Lot with all others got captured as a captive when there was a war in the land he went. When Abram heard this, he armed his trained servants, 318 in number, during the night, divided his men, smote on them, pursued them and redeemed all that have been captured as captives. The king who was pleased with this victory wanted to reward Abram which he generously rejected.

This is the time when he was all alone; Lot who was with him, together were a great company, left him and went away; he returned back from war with no reward, nothing; he has a small army of 318 trained servants, that is all; the defeated kings may anytime come and take revenge on him; if at all war happens and he was killed, who is going to take his position to lead the people, because he does not had a son yet; also he and his wife are very old.

Dear friend, today we may also be standing in such a situation: where we are left alone, it may be in our workplace or in society or in our family; we may fear for an immediate revenge or attack from someone around us because of a previously happened issue; we may be bombarded with loss after loss; we may be outnumbered; we may be afraid of the future, what will happen, how, when, what will be the end result. We may also be in such a state, confused on various things, shattered down, do not know what to do, binded into the clutches of fear.

I tell you my friend: the same Word of God which came to Abram is coming to us today saying, "Fear not...I am your shield and your exceeding great reward." He assures us of our safety to the extent that He will be our shield against all that come against us. He alone is enough for us to silence all the perplexing, tormenting fears that have gripped us thus far. So fear not my friend. Besides, we may be thinking that we losers, our works have not been recognized, we have not been rewarded well. Here again our dear God says, "Fear not!" Because He offers Himself as a reward, He is our reward, not a rewarder, we may be thinking He may reward us with something. But I tell you He is the greatest treasure if we have Him as our possession.

Dear beloved friend, so, today He offers Himself as a reward to us. If we have to come out of the clutches of fear, come out of the awkward situation that holds us, He alone can be a shield for us against all that stand against us. So please accept this greatest reward now. Tell Him that you accept this dear Lord who offers Himself as a reward and shield to come and dwell in you. This is the day we have to take a decision to deliver ourselves out of all our fears and worries. Accept him and have a blessed, great day enjoying the pleasures of this New Reward. May God Bless You and Be With You!
