God's Guidance in Our New Tasks

"I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation" (Genesis 46:3)

These are the words the LORD God said to Jacob whike he was forced to leave the promised land because of a severe famine and to go to Egypt towards a welcoming son who was lost long back. We in these last days get struck in making newer decisions. The endeavor may be new to us, we would have been forced to quit from the existing work, thousands of questions circling around our head, analysing the pros and cons, meeting the experts and seeking friends and elders for advices—all these increase the pressure of the scenario.

Here is a man of God who is toiling in such a situation. Jacob feared of this new journey at this old age—130 years of old. He also knows that the journey is a long one. He remembers the death of his beloved wife Rachel on one of such journeys. This is how we too look ourselves in front of the new endeavor. Are we skilled enough to handle this work? Does our health factor is a concern? Can I be able to undergo this new task? Will any calamity befall in the midst of the task? and so on the list of questions go.

Jacob feared of the consequences that may happen in Egypt—his people, his sons, who accompany him, may forget their originality, their lifestyle, their culture and fall to the modern culture and practices. He would have feared that they may forget the LORD their God who led them all these days and serve foreign gods and embrace the new pleasures of the world. This is also a point we normally think when we are about to be enter into a new task. What will happen to me—will I need to compromise with my principalities, my beliefs, my culture, my lifestyle, and so on. Will time make me to change myself completely, away from my present trend.

Jacob also feared the earlier prophecy that God had told his forefather Abraham about a bond of slavery. He would have feared that this might make us to bind ourselves into slavery in Egypt. This is also the fear we always have whether we will be binded by the clutches of slavery. Will the true purpose for which we have undertook this task be fulfilled?

Dear friends, you know what Jacob did amidst all his fears—He waited in the God's presence and listened to God's voice. Today, in all our new endeavors let us keep away all our fears and worries and be in the presence of God for His guidance. He is faithful in His promises and He will show us the way at the appointed time. So be not discouraged nor fear of the dangers before us. May God bless you!

God With Us!

"Fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed"
(Genesis 26:24)

Dear friend, these are the words of the Lord that came to Isaac. If we look at his situation, we can see that he went to Gerar, a land of Philistines, because of famine, and lived there. God blessed him abundantly in such a way that when he sowed, he received back in hundred fold; he became very great; he had great possessions of flocks and herds; and he had a great store of servants too. The people of the land envied him because of his abundant growth and thus they became an obstacle to his works; they closed the wells he dug, wherever he went and dug, the Philistines will come closed it with mud; and the king of that land drove them away saying that "you have become too powerful for us".

We too may undergo such a situation. We may be forced to be in an unknown land. We know that God has blessed us abundantly with talents, gifts, and so on, so that whatever we do prospers – this may result in friends turning into foes, many may be an obstacle for our deeds, many may envy us, many may long to see our defeat, we may be thrown away, rejected, smashed to the ground, force us to leave our hold. Just look back and see whether have we crossed the path of such turmoils in our life. How we have reacted to those situations. Or how are we reacting to this state of our life.

At this time of troubles: Are we searching for someone on whom we can cling on? Are we looking for a person who can share our load? Are we trying to get some ears to listen to our cries? Are we being bound by the clutches of fear – what will happen to me, how long can I hold on to this situation,  when this state will be changed, when will be relieved, when i will get rid out of my fear, when i can be able to have a peaceful sleep? The same situation Isaac passed through thousands of years ago. That same night, the Lord appeared to Isaac and said, "Fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed." Let us hold on to this promise and own it. The same Lord who spoke to Isaac is coming amidst our situation to say the same words of hope to us. He has promised us that He will be with us and will bless us and multiply us. When we come in to His feet and ask Him to come into our hearts today, as He promised, our God will be with us. So put aside everything and let us cling on to our gracious God the Father who wants to be with us to bless us in our times of trouble.

May God Bless You!

Our Shield and Reward

"Fear not, Abram, I am your shield and your exceeding great reward."
(Genesis 15:1)

These are the words God the Father spoke to Abram in a vision. Looking back into Abram's life before this Word of God came to him, we can see that Abram obeyed God's calling and started his jouney towards the Promised Land. He went to Egypt as there was famine, and later journeyed towards the Land. Here, Abram and his brother's son, Lot, with all that they had were innumerable that the land was not able to bear them. Because of a strife between the two of them, Lot took all his possessions and left Abram. Later, Lot with all others got captured as a captive when there was a war in the land he went. When Abram heard this, he armed his trained servants, 318 in number, during the night, divided his men, smote on them, pursued them and redeemed all that have been captured as captives. The king who was pleased with this victory wanted to reward Abram which he generously rejected.

This is the time when he was all alone; Lot who was with him, together were a great company, left him and went away; he returned back from war with no reward, nothing; he has a small army of 318 trained servants, that is all; the defeated kings may anytime come and take revenge on him; if at all war happens and he was killed, who is going to take his position to lead the people, because he does not had a son yet; also he and his wife are very old.

Dear friend, today we may also be standing in such a situation: where we are left alone, it may be in our workplace or in society or in our family; we may fear for an immediate revenge or attack from someone around us because of a previously happened issue; we may be bombarded with loss after loss; we may be outnumbered; we may be afraid of the future, what will happen, how, when, what will be the end result. We may also be in such a state, confused on various things, shattered down, do not know what to do, binded into the clutches of fear.

I tell you my friend: the same Word of God which came to Abram is coming to us today saying, "Fear not...I am your shield and your exceeding great reward." He assures us of our safety to the extent that He will be our shield against all that come against us. He alone is enough for us to silence all the perplexing, tormenting fears that have gripped us thus far. So fear not my friend. Besides, we may be thinking that we losers, our works have not been recognized, we have not been rewarded well. Here again our dear God says, "Fear not!" Because He offers Himself as a reward, He is our reward, not a rewarder, we may be thinking He may reward us with something. But I tell you He is the greatest treasure if we have Him as our possession.

Dear beloved friend, so, today He offers Himself as a reward to us. If we have to come out of the clutches of fear, come out of the awkward situation that holds us, He alone can be a shield for us against all that stand against us. So please accept this greatest reward now. Tell Him that you accept this dear Lord who offers Himself as a reward and shield to come and dwell in you. This is the day we have to take a decision to deliver ourselves out of all our fears and worries. Accept him and have a blessed, great day enjoying the pleasures of this New Reward. May God Bless You and Be With You!
